Phenotypic Characterization of Signature-Tagged Mutants Identifies
Applied
and Environmental Microbiology (AEM)
Signature-tagged mutagenesis
https://journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/aem.02505-25
We are pleased to announce that our new research article, “Phenotypic Characterization
of Signature-Tagged Mutants Identifies Physiological Determinants of Vibrio
vulnificusFitness,” has been accepted for publication in Applied and Environmental
Microbiology (AEM). In this study, we investigated the physiological factors
that contribute to the in vivo fitness of Vibrio vulnificus, an opportunistic
pathogen responsible for severe soft tissue infections and septicemia.
Using a signature-tagged mutagenesis approach combined with phenotypic
characterization, we identified bacterial functions that are critical for
survival and proliferation during infection. Our findings highlight the
importance of physiological traits related to nutrient acquisition and
metabolic adaptation, providing new insight into how this pathogen persists
and expands within host tissues. https://journals.asm.org/doi/10.1128/aem.02505-25
