生化学研究室への配属を考えている学生へFor Students Considering Joining Our Lab
本研究室は、教員3人の他に獣医学科の4年生・5人、5年生・6人、6年生・4人で構成されています。研究室は、和気藹々としており、みんな仲が良いです。毎年、研究室対抗のイベントには、研究室員が一丸となって参加しています。研究室の概要としては以下の通りですが、配属される前に一度は見学されることをお勧めします。
Our laboratory consists of three faculty members and approximately 15 students (4th–6th year). The atmosphere is friendly and collaborative. We strongly encourage prospective students to visit the lab before making a decision.
卒業研究のテーマGraduation Research Topics
- 教員の研究内容に沿ったテーマで1人1人が卒業研究を行います。教員とは常にディスカッションを行い、研究の遂行に必要不可欠な思考回路を養いながら、実験データを日々積み重ねます。4年生の夏休み頃から実験をスタートさせて、まずは基礎的なテクニックを勉強します。4年生の春休みごろまでにいずれの教員に指導されるか決め、本格的な卒業研究のテーマに沿った実験を開始します。研究遂行に必要な考え方・手順は、研究職に進む人だけでなく、臨床、公務員等に就職する方にも有益です。
- Each student carries out a graduation research project aligned with a faculty member's research. You work through daily discussions with your supervisor, building the analytical thinking essential for research. Experimental work begins around summer of the 4th year with foundational techniques, and a formal research theme is decided by the following spring break.
論文紹介Journal Club
- 週に一度英語のゼミがあります。配属されたばかりの4年生の後期はレビュー（総説）をみんなで和訳します。
- 5年生の4月からは卒業論文作成に向けて、自分の研究テーマに関係する英語の論文を紹介します。英語論文紹介の1巡目は1人ずつ論文の全訳を発表してもらいます。2巡目以降は1回のゼミに2人ずつ論文の要約を発表してもらいます。これにより自分の研究の立ち位置とプレゼンテーションのテクニックを学びます。
- A weekly English-language seminar is held. 4th-year students translate review articles together; from 5th year onward, students individually present papers related to their research themes, developing both scientific understanding and presentation skills.
進捗報告Progress Reports
- 定期的に自分の卒業研究の進捗状況についてプレゼンテーションを行います。卒業論文発表会の前に自分の力で研究内容をまとめることにより、研究に対する理解度を高めると同時にスライド作成法、発表法を学びます。
- Students give regular presentations on their research progress, learning to independently summarize their work before the final thesis defense.

- 吉川・北野グループでは、さらにグループ内でゼミを行っています。
- The Yoshikawa/Kitano group holds additional internal seminars within their group.
学会発表Conference Presentations
- 研究が順調に進み、ある程度データがあるなら、獣医学会などで積極的に発表してください。自分が行った研究を発表することはとても刺激的で勉強になります。
- Students with sufficient data are encouraged to present at veterinary conferences. Sharing your research is both exciting and educational.
その他Other Notes
- 実験室の掃除、器具の洗浄、研究テーマによっては実験動物の世話などの研究室の仕事もあります。朝9:00〜研究室はスタートしますが、実験系によっては夜遅くなったり、土日や祝日にも実験しなければならないこともあります。
- Lab duties include cleaning, glassware washing, and (depending on your project) animal care. The lab opens at 9:00 AM; depending on your experiments, late nights and weekend work may be necessary.
獣医学科2・3年生、および動物資源学科の学生へFor 2nd/3rd Year Students and Animal Science Students
生化学や分子生物学に興味があり、実際に手を動かしてみたい学生は吉川に相談してみて下さい。長期休暇など時間を合わせて、指導することが出来ます。
Students interested in biochemistry or molecular biology who want hands-on experience are welcome to consult Prof. Yoshikawa. Guidance can be arranged during long academic breaks.

将来の夢は人それぞれ異なるとは思いますが、研究室で努力したことはその後の人生の大きな財産になると思います。2年という長い時間をかけて物事の考え方を深く学べるので、研究に真摯に取り組み、楽しんでいって下さい。
