本研究室では、比較腫瘍学と神経科学を大きな柱として、疾患の分子機構を多角的に探究しています。
Decode animal life.
Connect health across species.
Our laboratory explores disease mechanisms through two core research units: comparative oncology and neuroscience.
Comparative Oncology Unit
We investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer by studying cancer-resistant animals such as elephants and whales, as well as mammary tumors in dogs and guinea pigs. Through comparative research across animal species, we aim to deepen our understanding of the fundamental biology of cancer and contribute to advances in both veterinary and human medicine.
Neuroscience Unit
We study the molecular basis of neurological disorders closely associated with dopaminergic neurotransmission in the brain, such as schizophrenia and Parkinson’s disease. By elucidating novel regulatory mechanisms of dopaminergic neurotransmission at the molecular level, we aim to generate insights that will deepen our understanding of neurological disease pathogenesis and contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies.
