研究論文「Phenotypic Characterization of Signature-Tagged Mutants Identifies Physiological Determinants of Vibrio vulnificus Fitness」が、微生物学分野の国際誌 Applied and Environmental Microbiology (AEM) に採択されました。 本研究では、重篤な軟部組織感染症や敗血症を引き起こす日和見病原菌 Vibrio vulnificusを対象に、宿主体内での増殖や生存に寄与する生理学的要因を解析しました。Signature-tagged mutagenesis によって得られた変異株群の表現型解析を行うことで、感染環境下での生存や増殖に重要な細菌機能を同定しました。これらの結果は、栄養獲得や代謝適応などの生理的特性が、本菌の感染成立と病態進展に重要な役割を果たすことを示唆しています。 なお、本論文の正式なオンライン公開はまだ行われていませんが、プレプリント版は bioRxiv に公開されています。研究内容の詳細は以下のリンクからご覧いただけます。 https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.64898/2025.12.18.695119v1

We are pleased to announce that our new research article, “Phenotypic Characterization of Signature-Tagged Mutants Identifies Physiological Determinants of Vibrio vulnificusFitness,” has been accepted for publication in Applied and Environmental Microbiology (AEM). In this study, we investigated the physiological factors that contribute to the in vivo fitness of Vibrio vulnificus, an opportunistic pathogen responsible for severe soft tissue infections and septicemia. Using a signature-tagged mutagenesis approach combined with phenotypic characterization, we identified bacterial functions that are critical for survival and proliferation during infection. Our findings highlight the importance of physiological traits related to nutrient acquisition and metabolic adaptation, providing new insight into how this pathogen persists and expands within host tissues. Although the final version of the article has not yet been published online, a preprint version of the manuscript is currently available on bioRxiv.
